Burrrrr it’s cold! <— I really wanted to start saying it’s cold in here, there must be some torros in the atmosphere, but I didn’t (even though I just did). Bring it on anyone?
Okay, enough. Anyway! Good morning : ) It’s pretty chilly here in Florida.
It’s actually warmer than it was yesterday but it’s definitely fun for a change to have to wear boots and scarves and things like that.
I set my alarm this morning for 7 am so I could wake up and get the gym out of the way. Apparently I didn’t want to wake up.
I don’t even remember turning off my alarm but I woke up an hour and a half later and said F it.
Instead I’m sipping on some hot coffee and enjoying a leisurely morning.
I’m not really sure what I’m going to do for my workout yet, but it may just have to wait until after class.
On another note, I printed out my waiver for my half! I’m getting really excited/nervous now.
Ahhh!!! And of course, my teachers assign EVERYTHING within the next couple of weeks. It’s like they know when I will be super busy, so they give me tons of work. #collegekidproblems
I’m actually heading home this week, probably on Wednesday, because I have a doctors appointment for my tummy (will update after!), I have to take my mom to get cataract surgery, and it’s my best friends birthday weekend.
Then I have the race, which my other best friend Krystie, who I’ve mentioned before, is coming up to stay with me and run the race!
I definitely want to get compression socks. Does anyone have an recommendations? And I would like to dress up. I’m thinking something pink, tutu maybe? ;D
So yeah, in about 10 days, I will officially be a half marathoner. I cannot wait.
On the other hand, how do you stay warm when you are a Floridian and not use to the cold?
- Work out. If you get super sweaty I promise you will welcome the cold air on your face.
- Drink hot chocolate.
After lunch yesterday I wasn’t feeling coffee, so I rolled with homemade hot chocolate. I just used unsweetened cocoa powder and used Xylitol as the sugar. Super chocolatey, delicious, and even low cal (if you care).
3. Eat soup.
I am diggin’ the soup and potatoes lately. This soup was the Amy’s minestrone. It was alright. It was actually really bland so I just put a ton of parmesan cheese in it and it did the trick.
4. Don’t leave the house. Kidding, kind of. I literally did not step foot outside the house yesterday due to my massive amounts of work I have to do. And I only put a dent in it.
I’m also dog sitting my roommates other puppy this week! Well, she’s six. But I call any dog that’s small a puppy.
Now I’m just rambling. I better get to work!
How do you stay warm?
What is the weather where you live?
Do you set multiple alarms?
Runners: any recommendations for compression socks?

I stay in the tropical region, so I’m still pretty much marching around in shorts and flip flops. Just sayin’.
I’ve only ever been to a cold place once, and I have to say I very much prefer hot over cold!

Here in Oklahoma we’ve had an extremely warm winter. And then the cold hit this weekend. 30′s and 40′s for highs. Teens for lows. Brr…
I’ve been hurt, so haven’t had to run in the cold. But I’ve been trying to stay inside as much as possible.

I usually enjoy cold weather at times with a cup of hot coffee or coco and staying all day long inside the house. Hoping though not to get a cold the next day. Nice sharing….

I definitely chose sleep over an early morning workout yesterday too! Sometimes your body just decides for you. And I’ve found that my workouts on those days are even better!
I hate cold weather! Thankfully it never gets toooo cold in LA. But, when it does, I always try to get out and get moving. It helps! And lots of tea, soup, and comfort foods are consumed. Of course. (:

I have only lived in Colorado and now New York and I feel like our definitions of cold have to be different! I can’t imagine drinking hot chocolate in FL, but what do I know! The wind is what is making it bitter cold here. Ugh. I wish I didn’t have to leave the house, but walking around is part of the gig here!

Oh I completely agree about the staying indoors. I try at all costs to not leave my house when its cold! haha I know it’s pathetic, but once you get that bone chill cold it is so hard to shake off. I like taking a hot shower to warm me up! Also soup and chili are my main meals when the weathers cold out! They seem to always do the trick!
And I thought 53 degrees was chilly this morning haha. Coffee is my natural warmer.
I really WISH I could stop wearing my boots. HAHA. The sunw as out today so a lot melted
Hope you had a wonderful Monday, love

Ha! I love seeing people say 39deg as cold! Didn’t you say you wanted to move to NY? You better get used to the cold! We’ve been commenting up hear about such a mild winter – its been in the 40′s!
I have CEP Compression sleeves that I wear to bed after long runs. I wouldn’t suggest buying/wearing anything new so close/on race day. That could lead to chaffing issues that are absolutely no fun.

Yay yay yay! I’m so excited for your race. You know how badly I wanted to do that one, so I’ll be living (running?) it vicariously through you.
Not sure if that soup and potato is lunch or dinner, but I don’t care – I want it!
