Tuna Cakes

Hi there! Who’s happy it’s almost Friday?

While today is actually my Friday (one good thing about college), I am excited to sleep in tomorrow. Hopefully I can since lately I’ve been sleeping terribly.

Be prepared because this post is all over the place. So many random things to share!

In my survey this morning I mentioned that I got a package.

My supplements! I ordered these off Vita Cost since they had low prices and I had a discount coupon. Had to take advantage.

I got the supplements that Jamie recommended, the opti-women and the BCAA.

I also got some nutritional yeast because I’ve heard for decades from everyone and their mom that has a blog how good it was.

Okay, I am exaggerating just a little bit, but you get the point. I have used it but each time I haven’t tasted it at all. I guess next time I’ll have to dump a full cup then let you know what I think.

Anyway, the opti-women smells awful. I almost threw up when I opened the jar. I am still taking it but I’m not happy about it. Does anyone take that pill?

I now look like a pill poppin’ animal with all the supplements I have to take each morning.

Umm yeah. And that’s a little embarrassing that I put the probiotic colon health front a center, way to go Brittany.

I finished my last workout of the week today with shoulders and abs. I will have a week two update of the livefit sometime this weekend!

Thank goodness tomorrow is a rest day, my legs are SORE. Love that feeling though Winking smile

I bought this at the store yesterday since I haven’t been feeling too well the past few days. I like it!

I’m not the biggest tea drinker, but this one is pretty good. I want to try a better flavor, I just thought this flavor sounded like a good sick tea.

I also picked up some coconut oil after obsessing over Artisana’s I tried out. This was the only brand I saw so I took advantage since I haven’t been able to find it anywhere.

I tried to roast veggies with it for dinner tonight, but it’s solid. I thought only coconut butter did that?

Guess not, but it’s safe to say I need to liquefy it before I use it since I set off the fire alarm in my townhouse.

My dinner was AWESOME though.

Tuna cakes! I found this blog the other day and I am obsessed with it and stalked the entire thing.

I saw the tuna cakes and knew I had to make them, SO EASY.

I added green peppers, onion, and nutritional yeast to the recipe and just grilled it up on my George Foreman. I will be making this a lot! Perfect clean meal.

If you have used it before, what do you use coconut oil for?

Have you ever made tuna cakes?

What is your favorite brand/flavor of tea?

  2. I have coconut oil and use it in anything I would use olive oil for! Tosca Reno recommends eating two tablespoons a day, even straight out of the jar! Never made tuna cakes…don’t like tuna! Still working on the whole fish thing :) LOVE tea though. I don’t know if I could pick a favourite! Anything fruity…chocolatey…mmmm!

as for the nutritional yeast, i love mixing it with milk on the stovetop and putting it on steamed/roasted veggies, sprinkling it on salads, or adding it to scrambled eggs. the blog, “oh she glows” (http://ohsheglows.com) has some great recipes that use nutritional yeast!

  5. I’ve been looking over your blog and love it. I subscribed!! :)

  6. I’ve used coconut oil when preparing raw desserts. Here’s a link to recipes I’ve made using coconut oil: http://thecookssister.wordpress.com/tag/coconut-oil/

I’ve made salmon cakes, but never tuna cakes. I will definitely be trying this recipe soon!

I’ve got the Yogi brand Egyptian Licorice and Mint tea. It is quite good and I recommend trying it! However, my favourite tea is the Dilmah brand Moroccain Mint tea (or a loose leaf version of that flavour).

  7. I LOVE TUNA! Huge fan!! I will definitely be making some sort of burger/cake like the ones you made! Such a versatile food. And don’t forget YUMMY!

  8. LOVE coconut oil! It’s so good for you. :-) I love to use it in stir frys because it has a higher smoke point than EVOO, so all of its nutrient properties don’t become destroyed as easily. It also hold up well in desserts and raw bars!

And no shame about the colon meds. Girl, we gotta do what we gotta do! ;-)

I have totally gotten hooked on fish cakes lately, too! they’re super easy, fast and nutritious. my favorite way to make them is with sardines, egg whites, flax and veggies. :) I’ll have to try out the ones you posted as well!

  12. I’ve never tried that flavour of tea, but I’m obsessed with Yogi’s Egyptian Licorice tea – I drink it at least 2x a day!

Also I like to use coconut oil in granola bars and things like that. I’ve actually never tried it with veggies before, but I’ve heard it’s delicious on sweet potatoes. :D

  17. Have you ever tried Tropical Traditions coconut oil? It is soooooo much better than any others I’ve tried. It’s unrefined so of course it’s less processed and it has the best coconutty flavor! I use it in place of butter in my baking and for roasting veggies. I keep my jar out on the counter next to the stove so most of the time the amount I need at the time is melted…if not, I just pop it in the microwave for about 10 seconds. In the summertime, if it gets warm enough in the house, the entire jar will melt!

I’ve never made tuna cakes, but I love salmon cakes and I make a pretty mean tuna salad. I actually threw a little nutritional yeast in the tuna salad I made last weekend and it was delicious. I think the best way to get a good taste for the nutritional yeast is to have it with eggs…I swear the two were MEANT for each other! Or just dump a handful on your steamed/roasted veggies…mmmm! I’m making myself hungry!

I went through a tea phase, but now I’m not really drinking it much. I like the Yogi brand, but Celestial Seasonings totally knocks them out of the park in the way of flavors!

So happy that you tried Coconut Oil. I have been using it since I started reading Tosca’s Eat Clean books!! I love it!! It’s a great substitute for Olive Oil and anything I cook in my frying pan, I use it!! Veggies are fantastic, even chicken done in the frying pan!! Although Tosca states that she eats it out of the jar, I haven’t been that brave yet!!

I’m going to have to try the Tuna Cakes!! I love tuna and this would be a great way to do it!!

    Keep up the great blog!!

I love Raspberry Hibiscus Tea, Tazo Passion Tea, Jasmin Tea, and most kinds of green tea.

Right now i use coconut oil for my hair and skin. Have yet to get it into my eating regimen cause i love Grapeseed oil at the moment.
