Hi guys! My blogging is getting a little sporadic these days, so much to do. I apologize!
Anyway, today is the reveal day for foodie pen pals. This month my pen pal was the awesome Cait at Cait Plus Ate! She sent me such awesome stuff.
First she sent me a really cute card which happens to be some old houses on her town’s main street. How cool is that?
And a cute little note inside.
So much stuff!
Freeze dried bananas. I have never had these before? but I love them! Very sweet, good to top yogurt or something with.
Dried blueberries.
Pickles. I haven’t had pickles in foreverrrrr and I forgot how much I like them!
Coconut milk!! I haven’t used this yet, I’m waiting till I find the perfect recipe. Any ideas?
A very mini maple syrup, how cute.
This was very interesting! I tasted it with a rice cake and enjoyed it.
Not sure how she knew, but one of my favorite brands of peanut butter. I just happened to finish off a jar of creamy too and was craving chunky. Perfect!
These things are awesome, I love them! They’re sunflower seeds but they are chocolate-y and spicy at the same time? Like literally spicy. It was really weird at first but a good weird. I’ve loved putting a little bit in Greek yogurt!
Fruit strips.
And some Easter candy. I’ve never been a huge peeps fan, but the chocolate may just make it good. I’ll definitely have to try it!
So pretty much, this girl rocks. Thanks again Cait!!!
Want to join Foodie Pen Pals?
Here’s a detailed explanation of the program:
-On the 5th of the month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you can choose to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
- Foodie Penpals is open to US, Canadian residents & UK residents. Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa. So, I’m going to keep two separate lists and match US w/ US and Canada w/ Canada!
***If you’re in the UK, please contact Carol Anne from This Is Rock Salt at rocksalt@thisisrocksalt.com to get involved!
Have you tried any of these products??

That’s such an awesome package! Those cocoa sunflower seeds look so neat – I’ve never seen them before!
I have that coconut milk and I love it for using in Thai curries! Also it tastes good if you put a splash in smoothies or in oatmeal.

What an amazing foodie penpal! But, then again, I am a liiitle bit biased.
Kaia foods is an amazing brand. All of their snacks are phenomenal. If you like curry, their curried sunflower seeds are out of this world!
As for the canned light coconut milk, you should totally make Mama Pea’s spicy African peanut soup. It is pretty incredible! http://peasandthankyou.com/2010/01/28/slow-mornin-slow-cookin/

Looks like you’ve already gotten some good suggestions for the coconut milk, yay! Glad you enjoyed the package. Don’t worry if you don’t like the Peeps! I’m not a fan of them either but I thought they were appropriate for this time of year, haha. I’m so glad I got you your fave PB!

You got majorly spoiled! Holy crap lady. I love the freeze dried bananas! I can never seem to eat all of mine before they go bad…although then that means banana bread so maybe I subconsciously don’t eat them all on purpose:)

Wow you got so much yummy looking stuff! You’ll have to let us know how it was!!!
Another awesome Foodie Penpal parcel – I really like the sound of the habanero and pineapple dip, yum. I like coconut milk in spicy soups, Thai and Indian curries and also in muffins, gives loads of flavour without the fat if that’s something you worry about
