Impromptu Rest

Yesterday morning I was STILL sore from my leg workout on Tuesday. And the LiveFit trainer called for another leg workout.

No way! I decided to take an impromptu rest day because I knew I needed it. I didn’t want to tear down my muscles even more without letting them fully recover or else they won’t grow!

Not only that, I knew that I wouldn’t have had a good workout anyway if I was this sore. No point. I am all for unplanned rest days whenever I need them.

Yes, I LOVE to workout, but I am also very good at listening to my body and giving it what it needs. Just like they say “eat when hungry, stop when full,” I do that as well as “workout when I can, and rest when I need.”

Yeah, I just made that up. But it works ; )

My mom was also down for a rest day since she was just as sore, so she suggested we meet up for lunch. I threw on my fedora and rocked a side braid.

Perfect lazy look. It makes you look put together, but in reality it takes five seconds to get ready.

My mom works about 20-25 minutes from home, so I hopped in the car and met her at a little restaurant by her work.

We both ordered salads and enjoyed our lunch outside in the beautiful weather.

Now that’s a salad! Grilled chicken, black olives, hard boiled eggs. Yuuummm.

After about an hour, she had to go back to work and I decided to make a pit stop before heading home.

Heck yes, I went shopping.

I finally got myself a gators shirt (the school I’m transferring to), and I love it!

I also got a pair of shorts, a shirt, and a dress but forgot to snap a picture.

I ran a few more errands and eventually ended the day with the hot tub (perfect for my muscles) and relaxing on the couch since I had to be up early this morning. I have a long day planned.

I’ll catch you all later!

Do you take unplanned rest days if you need it?

What is your favorite thing to shop for?

Any cinco de mayo plans?

  1. I’m with you on the rest days!! There really isn’t any point to tearing up your muscles like that. I find I can’t lift as heavy and it ends up being a really bad workout. It’s always best just to wait :)

I really love shopping for everything. It’s a serious problem! Shoes and summer dresses are probably at the top of my list though!

No plans today except rest and eat enough to fuel tomorrow’s race! WHOO!

  6. Where did you get that hat from? It is soo cute!

  7. I love that hat on you! That is really how I approach rest days, they come when I need them each week. I try not to reserve the one or two days a week for them because each week it changes to when i really need it. Looks like a great day!

You can rock that fedora hat all day long! You look adorable! I’m also a big fan of impromptu rest days… or at least sometimes. My favorite thing to shop for is food, kitchen supplies, or TJ maxx because there are so many hidden gems in there ;)

Cute! Love the fedora with the side braid. So happy you took a rest day when you felt you needed it. There is nothing worse than feeling crappy during the workout, so best to save it for when you have more energy! I love my hot tub, so nice after a crazy day. Glad you had fun with your mama!

I never really plan my rest days – I just take rests every 4-6 days, when I feel like I need one. Shopping + lunch with your mom sounds like the perfect way to spend the day!
