Hello, hello! Happy Friday to you all. I’m sure it gets everyone in a great mood, am I right?
I am super sore this morning. My hamstrings have actually been sore the past few days, and my upper body is feeling it too!
That is one great thing about lifting heavy again. I love it.
I actually took a rest day the other day, and I’m thinking about doing some yoga today to give my muscles some time to recover.
So true! I’ve actually noticed, I’ve been able to up my weight on mostly all of my exercises. It is such a great feeling!
True that. I love all the inspirational things I find!
Anyway, it has also been nice not having to count calories or anything. I loved the livefit trainer, but counting calories and all that stuff was getting monotonous.
I really just like to listen to my body, eat healthy, clean foods when I’m hungry, stop when I’m full, and allow myself to have treats sometimes too. Such as, a glass of wine ; )
I had corn on the cob the other night, and I forgot how much I loved corn! It reminds me so much of summer.
Last night I enjoyed a glass of wine, and whole wheat pasta with clams. I deserve it ;D
I can’t tell you the last time I had pasta because of being gluten free. It’s crazy because I had no stomach problems afterwards. Success!
I also found this health food store near me that literally has EVERYTHING you can imagine.
So many quest bars!!! I wanted them all. They are almost $3 a bar though.
Every protein powder you can think of.
They also had every nut butter, including the peanut coconut one I am dying to try, PB2, every bob’s red mill product, and any other thing that you usually cannot find anywhere.
I was in heaven, but I only bought the chocolate PB2 (which I love) and some more stevia. I wish I had unlimited money!
I’m going to stop there before I ramble on about a bunch of other random stuff. Hope you all have a great day!
What new product are you dying to try?
Do you count calories or just listen to your body?
Have you tried any new products lately that you love?

I loveee the inspirational pictures!! YEs!! Your pasta looks so good, and no tummy problems!? YAY! I never count calories, I just eat. If I get too full, I stop. It has worked the best for me. Counting calories never worked. I love finding health stores, although the bars are always wicked expensive!

I try not to count calories and instead rely on hunger cues, but I can’t help but unintentionally calculate how many calories I’m consuming each day – somewhere, in the back of my mind, it always sticks

Whenever I find myself counting cals I know it is for the WRONG reasons, like if I am feeling like I should feel guilty about indulging or taking a rest day. I try to just listen to my cravings and levels of fullness/hunger but that is tough to remember sometimes. I used to count cals a lot and took it to far in my ED days so now I try to never count, I associate it with bad! That’s why I never really do any of those training plans, but I like to read bout others’ experiences with them. I’m glad to hear that you’re listening to your body – being sore feels great but it’s hard to remember to rest! I did just yoga yesterday too and it really made me feel good.
Also your meals look great, the red wine is so essential!

I <3 PB2! I come from a WW past so I am half and half when it comes to counting. I feel like it can really overtake your mind, but it is for a healthy body so…sounds like you know what is best for you!

That store looks amazing! I can seriously spend hours in stores like that haha. One new product that I’ve tried recently is maple flakes – they’re pretty much just dehydrated maple syrup that you can sprinkle on oatmeal, yogurt, etc. They’re awesome!

I haven’t been able to find Quest bars anywhere in DC…Are they worth ordering online?
I used to count calories religiously, down to sticks of gum. Crazy! I’m so glad I’m past that; now I track what I eat according to measurements/exchanges. I try to get a certain amount of protein/carbs/fat at each meal, but don’t worry if I come up short or go over. Occasionally I’ll track everything on MyPlate, just to make sure I’m falling in the right ranges.
I completely agree with you though—it’s best to listen to our bodies. They know what we need better than some magazine or diet plan does!
xoxo <#

I have never counted calories (even in the phase way back, when I was eating-disordered) but recently did it for a couple of days as I wanted to know how many calories I am consuming intuitively. I downloaded MyFitnessPal on my iPhone, calculated my absolute minimum (desk job plus no exercise at the moment besides a little yoga), roughly counted for like 4 days .. and there you go, in the end I am always right along my needs!
I then immediately deleted the App since my disordered past does NOT like the calorie counting. Plus, it’s so time-consuming! Crazy! I guess if I had any pressing needs, like being very active and making sure from time to time that I comsumed enough or being pregnant, making sure I hit the good numbers …I would do it again for a couple of days. But nah, I actually LOVE not knowing how many calories are hidden in my food. Very freeing!:-)
Right now, I am obsessed with cashew butter, a little agave and choc chips, all on a spoon! YUM! best dessert ever! AND anything coconut! And melons and strawberries as it’s strawberry season in germany right now!
That dessert sounds AWESOME!
