Weekend Scenes

Hey everyone! This weekend has been a busy one. Obviously blogging went on the backburner, and my Google reader is overflowing. Oh well, life gets in the way sometimes!

Friday, I met my mom for dinner and some shopping for work clothes.

I had my second day of training Saturday morning, and was there all day. Came home, went to church, then passed out and slept LATE Sunday morning.

Yesterday, I was out all day in the pouring rain to the gym, hair salon for my mom, to pick up work shoes, etc. And now I have my first official day of work today, eek!

I figured a little photo dump would be the best way to sum up my weekend.

Top left is actually Jicama. First time trying it! It was kind of bland. A friend said they used to always eat it mashed like mashed potatoes, so that’s what I did. Eh.

This might be a silly question, but do you just put your tea bag in the ice water? Or did you already let it sit in hot water before pouring ice over it? I always want to just stick a bag in cold water and go, but thought you had to brew it in hot water first.

Good luck on your first official day at the job :)

    • Not silly! I actually boil one cup of water and pour it over two tea bags. Let it sit for 4-6 minutes. Take the tea bags out, pour 1 cup COLD water over that. Then put it in the fridge/freezer to let it cool then add ice/stevia :) That is just for one iced tea. For a pitcher, it’s more!

  13. Good eats! My weekend was pretty good. I had a really good time hitting the bars Friday with my out of town friends.

and my weekend was pretty awesome because i got to celebrate 2 years with fiance :)

  28. Dude, there is NO shame in the bathroom self-portait. ;)

Also, I have never seen jicama made that way! Please try it again, but try it raw, sliced into chips or cut into strips like carrots or fries. Dip it into hummus, or (even more refreshing) toss with lime juice and light chili powder or cumin. AMAZING.

  29. Your dog is so adorable! :) I sometimes need a couple of cups of coffee to make it through work too! 7 am is way to early sometimes for me. Haha. You should try cubing the jicama and putting some lime and a little salt on it. That’s what I do for a snack! :)

  30. YOUR DOG!! I die. Every single time. Such a stinkin cutie.

I’d love to try a sashimi roll! I’ve never seen them on a menu, but I might try making a special request. ;) Is the outside white fish or is it something else?

So funny about the jicama! If you’re brave enough to give it a second chance, try eating it like carrots. I cut mine into sticks and then dip them into guacamole or other dips. It’s pretty watery, but kind of refreshing!

Congrats on starting your new job! I worked in retail for awhile in college, and had to PUMP coffee in to stay alert, so I completely understand the 3 cups thing. ;) xoxo <3
