Updates

Well hello there, beautiful people! I didn’t mean to fall off the face of the blogging world for quite some time, but I’m back!

Ever since I got home from Orlando, I have been go, go, go. I am now back in Gainesville after a nice winter break, and today was the first day of class. Oh joy. I can already tell that this semester is going to be very time consuming. Blogging will most likely be even more sporadic throughout the next few months.

I already miss Bentley.

Doesn’t he have the cutest hiney ever? I realize I have issues, you don’t have to remind me.

Smile

Anyway, I’m currently sipping on some tea while I wait for my next class and I thought I would pop in and say hello.

I am loving these tea’s lately. Sugar cookie sleigh ride is one of my favorites, but I am currently sipping on the Bengal Spice. A splash of almond milk and a few drops of vanilla liquid stevia – yum.

I realize that this post is already super random, so lets just go with it.

Food

After trying out the FODMAP elimination diet for a couple of weeks and having no such luck, I never truly got to re-introduce the foods that I was staying away from.

Well, recently I re-introduced a few things that I haven’t had in a while and had good outcomes.

First, I haven’t really had wheat ever since trying the FODMAP elimination, so I started to eat Ezekiel bread again last week. Honestly, I feel completely fine. I haven’t had ANY issues with my stomach ever since then and it is awesome.

bread

I love Ezekiel, and I know it is easier to digest than other breads because it is sprouted. Either way, I’m fine with eating it, so I will continue to do so.

*Fun Fact: Did you know that Ezekiel bread is actually a complete protein? How cool is that?* Sorry, I’m a nerd.

Second, I first tried dairy after my elimination phase in the form of whey protein. I was having a terrible week stomach-wise, but I tried it anyway. Well, obviously things didn’t turn out so great after that. I swore off dairy and didn’t touch the stuff.

chobani

This weekend, I really got the urge for some yogurt. I used to be obsessed with yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. I don’t do cow’s milk, mostly because I don’t like the taste, but I looove yogurt. Anyway, I decided to try some Chobani yesterday and guess what? I was FINE. No issues at all. Not yesterday, not today. Weird? I’ve also had goat cheese this past weekend and was okay, too.

I don’t think I’m going to overdose on the stuff, but I’m definitely going to try to eat it a few more times to see how I react. Not really sure what to think about that one, but I am surprised that I was actually okay after it.

I don’t think I will ever understand IBS, and I’m sure everyone with the same issue can agree. I’ve heard no garlic or onion, but I’ve also heard that garlic heals the gut. I’ve heard so many contradictory stories that I don’t really know what to do or believe except to figure it out myself.

Fitness

On the fitness front, I am MORE than ready to get back into a routine. As you all know, I took a week off from weight lifting after finishing James Wilson’s Body Earned program. It was much needed and I’m so glad I did it. I actually want to do a separate post on that in the near future.

During that week off, I still ate clean and did some low-intensity exercises such as walking, biking, and yoga. However, I did consume a bit too many glasses of wine, pita chips, and other things here and there. It was nice to enjoy the holidays, as I believe everyone should, but I’m looking forward to my routine again.

I am re-doing the Body Earned program tomorrow and couldn’t be more excited! I may do the first twelve weeks over again, or purchase his second twelve weeks. My roommate and I did some food prepping already to stay on track which is always my life savor. I can’t wait to get back into it. Also, don’t forget he is hosting the competition! If you need something to motivate you, then this is perfect. Who doesn’t want to win prizes? I know I do. You won’t regret getting James’ program, it’s worth every penny.

Do you deal with stomach issues? What foods do you have to stay away from?

What is your favorite type of tea?

Do you like following a structured program or routine?

Bah! Ridiculous. I’m so sorry your doctor gave you the ‘IBS Stamp’. Mine did, too. A long time ago. I changed doctors, did more tests (breath tests, endoscopy, a colonoscopy and a CT Scan), plus a lot of blood work. My new doctor figured out I have Crohn’s Disease in 2011. I’m so glad to hear you took it upon yourself to rule foods out! :) Some doctors are just pill pushers….regardless of the side effects! I go back in February to see how I’m doing. I definitely need to have them do a food sensitivity test of some sort…. Guess we’ll see how that goes! Good luck to you!

Glad to hear your tummy issues are better! Sometimes you can overdo food and it causes issues and the. Taking a break helps, so maybe that was the case? I know I eat too many apples but Im so addicted, they’re my perfect snacking food! But I get so bloating from them so I try to eat less.

  10. girl, you know I have a ton of stomach issues… I don’t think I will ever understand why I get stomach pains. I can stay away from everything I’m allergic or intolerant to and still have issues. It baffles me!! I’m so glad these things are working for you!

  14. I just recently got to try Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride and it’s seriously becoming one of my favorite teas. I’m so sad that I’ll have to start rationing myself, though! And girl, I feel your frustration with the stomach woes big time. My stomach is super finicky as well, and it’s frustrating that sometimes it can handle certain foods while other times it can’t. It’s great that you’ve been feeling so good lately, though!

IBS is a pain. One day your fine, the next youre not. Everything in moderation and less stress, yes? Also, the higher fat yogurts have less lactose and so does kefir, so YEA!

I want Bentley. Such a cutie. Ick, IBS is SUCH a pain in the behind. I hate it. Sorry that FODMAP didn’t work out. Darn. Have you ever thought about getting an allergy test? Since I’ve had mine done and took out those foods from my diet I feel SO much better, it’s hard to even describe but I finally have waaay less bloat, pain, etc. It’s not perfect but a lot better now. It’s so hard with IBS because it’s such an individual issue and what works for some people won’t work for everyone. Sucks it’s like that. I’m so jealous you have sugar cookie tea. I want to try it bad, but silly Canada doesn’t sell it. Lame. Glad you enjoyed the holidays and your week off! Miss youuuu!

  24. Someone may have already said this, but I have mild lactose intolerance and was crazy surprised when I could eat Chobani with little to no effect, but other yogurts caused me troubles. Little did I know that many AUTHENTIC (that’s the key) Greek yogurts have very little lactose because of the straining process!
