What I Ate Wed

Whew, I can’t believe it is already Wednesday! How’s everyone doing? I am just a tad stressed out… and it’s only the third day of school. Awesome.

However, I’m not here to talk about that today since it’s what I ate Wednesday! I didn’t get a picture of all my eats yesterday, but that rarely ever happens.

I started round two of James Wilson’s body earned program yesterday, and it felt SO good to get back into the swing of things. Although I have gained a good base of muscle, I have decided I want to build some more.

The first half of the program, I’m going to focus on that. So that means upping my calories (eating a loooot), lifting heavy of course, and less cardio. The second half, I will probably do the opposite and add in more cardio. Lets see how this goes!

Pre-Workout

My usually protein, pb2, rice cake combo with coffee.

Post-Workout

Not a flattering picture, but my usual PWO shake.

Meal 2

IMG_3905

Oatmeal, egg whites, and pecan/cashew butter.

Meal 3

Protein bars eaten at school. Forgot to snap a pic!

Meal 4

IMG_9369

I was rushing so a crappy phone picture will have to suffice. Two slices of
Ezekiel bread, eggs, spinach, nutritional yeast, and ketchup.

Meal 5

IMG_9375

Grilled chicken and green beans/spinach sautéed in this stuff:

The best.

Meal 6

My usual egg whites and peanut butter. Doesn’t get old.

I’m currently trying to gain muscle, and I’ve actually increased my uptake of fats this week. I’ve been enjoying it! Favourite sources would be peanut butter, avocado or coconut oil. I hadn’t used coconut oil in a while and I forgot how much I love it. Good stuff!

Working on my first round of the JW program, except with the same goals as you! What’s the timing of your meals like? I hae the hardest time with getting enough food in

    • Yay, good for you!!! I usually eat every three hours. Sometimes if I wake up a little later, I’ll eat every 2 & 1/2 hours. It all really depends on when I have class, when I wake up, and when I go to the gym! lol I usually get in 5 meals and then pre and post workout. So I guess a total of 7 instead of the 6 meals with the additional pre and post!

Thanks! Yea it’s definitely hard to find what works with school :-P and its kid of mentally stimulating to absorb the frequency and amount of eating at first. Thanks again!

Good food always helps me when I am stressed haha. I hope things get more routine soon!! My fav fats are avocados, PB, and the infamous coconut oil!

  7. Obsessed with coconut oil. I don’t know if it can take the place of almond butter as my favorite healthy fat, but it’s definitely up there. Have you ever tried it on toast sprinkled with cinnamon? So, SO crazy good.

Coconut oil is the ultimate meal transformer. That sounds super lame, but it’s amazing. I love roasting brussels sprouts in it. So wonderful. I also love almond butter. Yum! I sometimes combine the two and add some pumpkin for a little pudding and it’s amazing. I’m excited to see more of your progress this round!

    • Those are my favorites, too! I have it every night before bed because you want fats + protein. I just take the liquid egg whites, vanilla liquid stevia, and a bunch of cinnamon, whisk it together and cook it like an omelet. Then I spread the peanut butter on top and it gets all melty :)

  11. PB will always be my fat of choice :)

  13. Favorite healthy fat? Nut(ty) butter of course! :)

Everything looks DELICIOUS…but for some reason, I am especially drawn to the ketchup. Go figure.

  14. I’m on a bulking diet right now, too! Am I ever hungry? NOPE!! I eat 6-7 meals/day, which means I’m sitting down to a plate of food every 2-3 hours. It feels like a lot, but I know it’s what I need to do to see the gains I’m after. :)

Everything looks delicious – especially that egg scramble! Favorite healthy fat: peanut butter! Followed very closely by avocado. :)

What are ur cals and macronutrient percentages?

Why don’t u do the yolks? Lots of healthy b vit in there

As a nurse and nutritionist, I need to caution u about he coconut oil fad…… Its not the miracle elixir it is touted to be. Keep ur fats from whole sources and not from oils. Ublosr every vit and min when the oil is extracted from the whole nut/seed. Also, plant based products powders are more effective and healthier and they put less stress on the kidneys. Whey pro has been shown to be highly contaminated with heavy metals and other toxins. Let me know if I can be of more help. I work with athletes all the time and try to debunk all the commonly held fitness and health fads that don’t produce longterm results

    • Thank you for your comment. I actually do eat the yolk, I just mix it with a few more egg whites. I don’t give out my calories because everyone is different. Coconut oil is not really a “fad” to me. I like the taste of it, and it is a good healthy fat. I don’t use it all the time, but once in a while I like it to sautee veggies. I don’t really fall victim to fads, either. I simply eat clean and eat real food.

    • J says:

I’d like to chime in here. I don’t think anyone uses coconut oil in excess, since a little goes a long way. And I also don’t think there is any false “health halo” around coconut oil. It is a healthy fat, that remains stable at higher temperatures and makes it an optimal cooking oil.

Also – and I truly mean this as respectfully as it is possible to convey over the internet – it is difficult to take professional advice from someone who is not taking the time to spell and write out words correctly.

      • Stacy says:

That is disrespectful but I won’t let it get to me. My Computer broke so I have to rely on my lame cellphone to type…. Its not an easy thing to do sans typos

There is a lot of controversy over Co oil. And yes, some people do use a ton of it, like 1-2 tbs per meal, thinking it will rev their metabolism or the like of it

Chck out Dr Furman and McDougal, and other plant based researchers for their take on it
