Vacation Eats

Hi, friends – happy Wednesday! Halfway through the week and it feels like it is taking forever even though it was a short week. I finally have enough food pictures to participate in WIAW thanks to the lovely Jenn! It’s a miracle.

You may know I was in Daytona this weekend, so lets take a look at some meals from the weekend, shall we? Keep in mind, it is super easy to eat clean while eating out. However, when you’re on vacation you can definitely let loose a little.  It is vacation after all!

The first night I went to Ruby Tuesday’s and ordered while fish, green beans, and spaghetti squash! Um, I’ve never seen a restaurant have spaghetti squash – I was too excited.

For breakfast one morning, we went to Peach Valley Café and I ordered an egg white omelet with tomatoes, spinach, and turkey. SO good. A side of potatoes, whole wheat toast, and coffee of course.

We were starving for lunch one day and wanted to save a little money, so we picked up an entire rotisserie chicken at Publix and got salads! Perfect. I had mine with ginger dressing.

Another night we went to Stonewood Grille, and apparently I was feeling fishy again. I got the groupers with a side of veggies. And yeah, I got a LOT of veggies. Ha ha. My mom also let me try one of her shrimp-wrapped scallops.

The last day we were starving and stopped at a restaurant after going to a museum and I ordered a chicken salad with a side of sweet potato for some carbs.

And that’s about all the pictures I got from the weekend!

What is your favorite thing to get when you go out for breakfast?

I rarely ever do, but for some reason omelet’s are so much better when you order them out so I always get one!

How often do you eat out?

  5. 1. Ruby Tuesday has spaghetti squash!?! I did not see that one coming.
    2. Breakfast places make omelettes so much better than I can. Definitely on my usual breakfast orders.
    3. I’d be trying a shrimp-wrapped scallop too. That’s basically my favourite seafood wrapped in my another one of my favourite seafoods.

  15. Letting loose on vacation is definitely the way to go! I don’t eat out all that often, but if I find myself out for breakfast, then I almost always go for crepes or waffles. The omelettes definitely look good, but I just can’t get over my sweet breakfast cravings!

Spaghetti squash on a menu! I’d be too excited, which is kind of lame I suppose. I agree, that letting go of eating clean on vacation is a good plan! We need to live once in a while right. I rarely get breakfast out, but if I do I usually would go for eggs, I guess not anymore.

  23. Wow, does that salad look amazing. Sometimes it’s so good to have something as simple as that!

I usually don’t go out for breakfast just because I’m allergic to eggs and nuts (which are in basically every breakfast food!), but if I can find it, I love ordering a nice warm bowl of oatmeal. :-)

  24. Everything looks SO SO good! I’m super impressed that Ruby Tuesday has spaghetti squash on the menu! How progressive of them. ;)

Whenever I go out for breakfast or brunch, I almost always order an omelet! They’re my fave, and it helps that they’re GF, packed with veggies (and cheese!), AND that they typically come with potatoes in some form (another favorite). However, sometimes I’ll “splurge” and get Eggs Benedict. :D

  25. I’m surprised Ruby Tuesday’s has good menu items like that. :D And you know my heart because fish is like, one of my absolute favorite foods in the world. And IF I eat breakfast out of the house, I normally get something with lots of eggs–omelet, Mexican style eggs with meat in them and all that good stuff!

  27. I so very rarely eat out, and NEVER it seems for breakfast. [I think that is probably because I just really like oatmeal in the morning, and it is so much better when you make it at home!] Usually if I am out for ‘breakfast’ it falls into the brunch category and so I’ll veer on the lunch side of things. I do love some home fries with ketchup though. ;)

In Austin there was a movie theater that served food called Alamo Drafthouse and they had a spaghetti squash dish on the menu, which always made me happy. Now that I think about it, I think my first encounter with spaghetti squash was at a restaurant in Hilton Head years ago!

I really liked your last post…would LOVE to chat with you about it cause my digestion is WAY off and I’m not exercising and having a HARD time with calorie intake stuff (yet ironically binging at night). I also have really bad constipation….can you email me? Also would LOVE to ask you…Okay…i ordered from vitacost this one cause its SUPER cheap and shipping not that bad to canada: http://www.vitacost.com/lifetime-lifes-basics-plant-protein-vanilla …NOW I’m worried the ingredients say “salt” and “xylitol” …is that healthy and clean?
the ingredients also list phenylalanine…is that okay you think? I’m freaked out i chose the wrong one!! Yipes. The otehr protein powders were just so much more expensive….even though they offered more in the container (so really maybe the same cost) i was worreid about buying a big bag or tub of something if i actually didn’t like it
