Marvelous Monday

Hello there beautiful people! How was everyone’s weekend? Did you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day?

I have to admit, although I’m part Irish, I did not celebrate. Two tests on a Monday means hermit crab mode. It was a wild weekend…

My idea of Sunday Funday was hitting my legs! I’m definitely sore today and I love it. Thankfully it is a rest day. Smile

I’ve also been having chest pains and some trouble breathing, and last week when I went to the doctor she said I probably have a case of Costochondritis. According to WebMD, it is an inflammation of the junctions where the upper ribs join with the cartilage that holds them to the breastbone, or sternum.

It hasn’t been too fun not being able to breathe perfectly, but I’m going to take a few days off from the gym and hope that it gets better.

On another note, I thought I’d share some things I have been loving lately.

Just a tiny splash of one of these in your oatmeal = life changer. Okay, maybe it’s not that drastic, but the coconut flavor goes really well with blueberries. I loved it.

We all know I love nut butter…

Can someone explain to me how Trader Joe’s makes all their nut butter delicious? Seriously. These are my new favorites, and the only ingredients are the nuts and maybe some salt! Crazy.

I finally caved and painted my nails.

I had an addiction to nail polish, I wanted to see how long I could go with just clear on my nails to let them grow and strengthen. That lasted about a week, and now I have the Mint Candy Apple by Essie. I’m obsessed.

Lastly, I posted this on instagram the other day and it is so true.

Have a great Monday!

I hope that your breathing gets better. I had problems from July to just recently (like mid-January) where I developed asthma and my body hated the medicine. I really hope yours goes away ASAP! And I discovered TJ’s almond butter a few weeks ago when I went paleo..OH MY GOSH! It’s hard not to eat it with absolutely everything (especially hard to not grab a spoon and eat it from the jar, lol)

  4. I bought a couple of Essie nail polishes a few weeks back and I really like them! The Mint Candy Apple looks great.

I made beef stew, homemade irish soda bread and went to bed early. Yup, I am an old person.

I had costochondritis growing up and I finally grew out of it when I was sixteen. Sooo painful!!! They told me not to lift or swing things around that was heavy. Nevertheless I continued to play sports and be active but I had to take Tylenol and ibuprofen often.

  6. We did a whole bunch of nothing for St. Patty’s Day, but I did wear some green and eat corned beef! Lol! Last year it was 70 degrees and sunny so we went out and even ate dinner on a patio, but this year it was in the 30′s, freezing, and rainy! I much preferred the indoors this year :)

  7. Best post! I love the WedMD photo…too true. I too, have a busy school week ahead of me so I celebrated St Pat’s by trying a new fitness class…then went home to eat HALF THE JAR of Trader Joe’s Almond Butter…it’s like crack! Good luck on school this week:)

  8. I think it’s so crazy that all natural nut butters can be made of the exact same ingredients (nuts) and still taste totally different from one another! I’m a big fan of Nuts to You and PC myself.

  10. It’s definitely Sunday Funday if you’re hitting your legs! Haha :) Legs are my FAVORITE day!
And my favorite nail polish brand of the moment is: Sally’s Beauty Supply mini nail polish. They have such fun, vibrant colors and you don’t feel bad buying a 99 cent bottle!

  11. Hope you feel better girl! My sister has actually had costochondritis too and it definitely improved with a bit of physical therapy, plus some rest!

Pretty nails!! I’m all about the cute, bright colors recently! Seriously, obsessed.
Kind of loving your nut butter too…I’m also obsessed with them too haha.
I totally wish we had a TJ’s here, since I hear such great things about that particular nut butter!
I do like Essie, but I find it chips really fast. I like the butter brand but it’s almost impossible to find here.
Dude, don’t get me started on Web MD, I can’t even tell you how many times I went to the hospital because I “thought” I was dying. OMG. They must’ve hated me there…plus I went to the clinic like at least once a month. Oy, I was paranoid haha.
    Feel better soon twin!

    • Me too!! haha. You need to come visit me and we can go buy everything in TJ’s ;D It DOES chip really fast – ahh! It chipped the next day. LOL I make myself paranoid with WebMD!!!

  14. Oooh I love that last image. Switching my mindset from purpose to passion changed EVERYTHING. Life changing as those extracts sound!! Yum!

I celebrated the holiday by relaxing and studying. I wish Spring Break would come back..

  15. Oh no! Hope your chest pains go away.

I’m a polish junkie, too. I typically buy Essie (have a ton, love the colors!) but I’m starting to notice after manicures that Opi lasts better, fewer chips, etc.

  16. I’ve been looking for that nail polish color everywhere but no luck so far! Such a perfect color for spring, too. And as much as it pains be to say it, I have to admit that I prefer OPI to Essie. I love the colors that Essie has to offer, but the polish will NOT stay on my nails. It chips ridiculously fast and I just find that OPI lasts a lot longer.

    Hope you feel better soon!

I have a Dior nail polish (that I might have stolen from my mum…) that is just amazing. It’s pink and it just lasts for ages. I love the pastel shades out at the moment as well. So bright and summery!

  18. I’ve totally had something similar where I felt like I couldn’t breath and had minor chest pains. The doctor thought I was having a panic attack but I knew I wasn’t since it lasted a few days. It happened right after a tough weight lifting workout then yoga session and I was super sore so maybe I had something similar to what you do. Crazy! Hope you’re getting some rest and are better soon!

I absolutely love that quote and was just what I needed to see today. Thanks! :)

Also, I love Trader Joe’s nut butters too!! The closest one is about an hour away so I always have to stock up. I need to do another trip out there–Jif is in the pantry right now, but it does the trick sometimes.

I hope you are feeling better today! I haven’t ever had it, but it sounds rough! Take it easy!

I had costochondritis twice, and both times were MURDER!! I had a hard time breathing, lying down…it was bad. I took steroids the first time (to help reduce the inflammation) but the second time I declined steroids and just used Advil. Good news: despite what WebMD said, you’re not dying :) Bad news: it takes awhile for the inflamnation to go down and to feel better. At least it did for me…hope you feel better soon!!

  23. I definitely would see if your doctor would refer you on to physical therapy. I’ve had a few patients with costochondritis and it really helped them.
Have you tried TJs cookie butter? Delicious for a desert – spread on an English muffin/toast or waffle.

  24. Emily says:

AH! I’ve been searing for that Essie color for weeks! All of my drug stores are sold out. ):
I typically stick with OPI or Essie for nail polish but every once in a while I’ll splurge on a bottle of Chanel polish which is ridiculously expensive but amazing.

And TJ’s nut butters are HEAVEN. I swear they put crack in them or something…

  25. LOVE ESSIE! They make the best colors and I love the names they come up with too! Mint is one of my favorite colors right now!

  26. LOVE the Essie color! Where did you find it?! I’ve been looking for a fun spring color that’s *not* pink/red/orange, but most green shades just don’t seem right–they remind me of Hulk fingers or Goosebumps books (to you remember those?). Haha. The blue/green color is gorgeous, though! My favorite polishes are Essie, OPI, Deborah Lippman, and Dior, but the latter two are a little too pricey for regular purchase! Cheap polish is where it’s at! ;)

I’d actually never heard of Costochondritis until reading this post, but I’m wondering if I’ve experienced the same condition in the past. I’ve gone through periods where my chest has felt really tight, but it usually goes away after a few weeks. I hope the rest helps! xoxo <3

  27. hope you are feeling better! Glad you are taking time to rest!

Love the nail polish colour! I love OPI :)

Recently I discovered that Whole Foods has been holding out on all of us. Their 365 brand nut butters are astoundingly creamy and delicious! I think they are comparable in price to TJs, too. Of course, there is nothing like a little TJ’s sunflower butter…
