MIMM–Thanksgiving Weekend

Hello there! How is everyone today? I hope you all soaked up your holiday weekend and had a good time with friends and family.

I had a relaxing but busy weekend, mostly free of school work of any kind. This week it’s back to the books – finals are approaching. Ugh.

Anyway, onto the good stuff. Here’s a look at what went down this weekend!

I went for a run outside! I haven’t run outside in quite a while, and I seriously missed it. We went to a nearby park since it was gorgeous out, and I covered around 4 miles I’m guessing.

I got a pretty sweet farmers tan, too. I didn’t wear my Garmin since I forgot it in Gainesville, but I had my heart rate monitor and I followed a path and ran for about 45 minutes. It felt good to just run and not worry about time, speed, etc. I loved it.

I won a giveaway over at Jana’s blog and I received my blender bottle! It’s amazing. It can be used as a water bottle, or a protein shaker.

We stopped in at Whole Foods one day since we were out and hungry. I love Whole Foods. I got tofu, quinoa salad, and a regular salad.

Finally got my hair done! My roots were SCARY. If you dye your hair, you feel my pain. It’s a lot blonder though, oops.

I’m growing my hair out again, so I just got a trim. It feels soooo healthy.

The Gators beat the Seminoles – heck yeah!!! My dad sent me this picture of the cat ha ha. My brother goes to FSU, so we were talking crap back and forth. Sorry, Bren!

We were out all day on Saturday too, so we stopped in at a Mediterranean restaurant. I ordered a grilled chicken Greek salad with no onions – yum!

The hot oats are back! Ever since I got home, I’ve been craving them. These are just quick oats cooked in the microwave with a bit of protein powder, cinnamon, a splash of milk, and topped with peanut butter.

Bentley looks creepy in this picture, but he got a haircut. Omg. He looks so beautiful. Are you sick of him yet?

I also murdered my legs at the gym on Saturday. I finished off my workout with a two minute wall sit. Please do that next leg day and try to tell me that you didn’t die. You will. I did, but in a good way!

Best thing you did all weekend?

Do you dye your hair?

Thanksgiving and a Leg Workout

Hi, friends! I hope everyone in the U.S. had a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoyed the food, drinks, and company! I know I sure did.

As for my Canadian friends, I hope you all had a wonderful day as well.

First of all, the weather was UNREAL. Perfectly sunny, cool, and just gorgeous. Seriously perfect.

I started the day off with a great back/bicep workout and some sprints.IMG_8720

My burn was ridiculous! This is high for me. I made sure to refuel with a PWO shake as usual. Once that was over, I got to cooking. We were having people over our house, so we were in charge of the turkey and some of the sides.

We can clean up pretty nicely. See, I do wear normal clothes sometimes – other than gym clothes. Ha ha.

Love my mom! People came over around 3 or so and we had a spread of appetizers and a little bar area for drinks. We chatted for a while before digging into the main meal.

I forgot to take a picture of the entire spread of food, but here was some of what I ate. I had to be careful not to eat any onions, garlic, or a few other things that would make me die, but this was delicious.

Turkey, roasted green beans, butternut/acorn squash (my fave), and a salad with fruit and nuts that are hiding underneath the lettuce. Plus a couple glasses of wine… oops. Winking smile And of course we have leftovers for the week – score.

Now onto the leg workout! Some people have asked me in the past what my leg workout looks like, or what I would recommend for a good leg workout. Since I usually do something different every time, it’s hard to tell. It also depends on YOUR personal goals for what type of workout you should do. Whether you should lift heavy with low reps, or do something like a circuit style workout.

Since I’ve recently partnered up with Tribesports, they send us some challenges to share with our readers. I’ve already shared one before, and I think they’re great for a basic workout – especially if you’re looking for something new!

You can read all about the challenge here. This is a great workout for beginners or for anyone looking for a new workout to try. Make sure to tailor it to your needs! You can go through it as many times as you’d like, use your body weight, use dumbbells, whatever.

Let me know if you try it and how you like it – enjoy!
